Pencuke Farm is a member of WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms).
WWOOF UK is a membership charity, teaching people about organic growing and low-impact lifestyles through hands-on experience in the UK. As a host member of WWOOF we offer food and accommodation in exchange for practical help on our land. We do not expect you to know a lot about farming when you arrive, but we do expect our WWOOFers to be willing to learn, earn their stay, and able to fit in with our lifestyle.
WWOOF is an exchange – you volunteer your help in exchange for food, accommodation and an opportunity to learn about organic agriculture. As a WWOOFer, you can expect to work about 5-6 hours per day 5 days a week, or a combination of hours/days to suit your host and yourself not totalling more than 30 hours per week.
In order to volunteer on WWOOF host farms in the UK you must become a member of WWOOF UK. Once you’ve joined WWOOF UK, you are then able to contact hosts directly to arrange your stay. Your host should discuss what kinds of activities you will be asked to take part in, what accommodation is on offer and also the length of your stay.
Due to the nature of our business, we take WWOOFers from October until April and would be able to provide hands-on experience with a mixture of activities including the conservation work we are doing through Natural England, looking after livestock, working in our market garden and orchard and the very important task of putting up and maintaining fencing.
